Job Summary:

 

Primary focus will be to service the existing business, operationally and financially, while maintaining relationships with existing customers and developing new business where possible.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serves as a business partner to regional management to support regional goals and initiatives
  • Serves as a managerial member of the Human Resources team in support of organizational goals and initiatives; participates in developing departmental goals, objectives and systems within the department
  • Provides direction to regional management and employee base on all Human Resources initiatives
  • Guides employees, Supervisors and Management through investigative processes of employee relations and makes recommendations when necessary
  • Develops recruitment strategies to achieve required staffing levels.  Meets with Hiring Managers to develop specific recruitment plans.
  • First point of contact for union grievance issues for local union
  • Knowledgeable of local CBA and interpretation of policies and practices
  • Investigate, respond to and resolve union grievance issues; advise General Counsel on all escalated issues
  • Investigate and respond to questions from management and employees regarding their rights, duties and obligations under the CBA
  • Participate in union contract negotiations
  • Recommends new approaches, policies and procedures to effect continual improvements in efficiency of department
  • Maintains HRIS records and compiles reports for Management as requested.
  • Facilitates communication among employees and management.  Guide Management and employee base on problem solving, dispute resolution, regulatory compliance and litigation avoidance
  • Develop training and staff development to enhance the effectiveness of employee performance in achieving the goals and objectives of the division
  • Acts as backup for all other administrative functions within the office including payroll
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field or additional experience in lieu of degree
  • A minimum of five years HR Generalist experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships internally and externally
  • Self-starter with excellent dependability and integrity
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local laws
